Heather
Mitts was born on June 9, 1978 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Heather Mitts's
father Don is a cardiac surgeon, and mother Jan Peck is a personal
trainer. Heather Mitts first touched a soccer ball at age 6, and
never let go. At 8 she was playing in organized teams and dabbling
in other sports. After her freshman year of high school, Heather
Mitts decided to devote herself exclusively to the game and aim for
a college scholarship. She knew she was on her way as she received
every honor imaginable for high school athletics and lead her school,
St. Ursula Academy, to four straight district titles. The University
of Florida saw a future star, and gave Heather Mitts a scholarship.
Heather Mitts kicked off her college career as gloriously as she
had left her high school one. In her first season, she started in
20 of 21 matches, logging a total of 1,270 minutes and winning the
team's Gator award for exceeding coaches' expectations.
As a junior, Heather Mitts led the Gators to a national victory
and was crowned an all-American. The national team had to have her.
They took Heather Mitts into the under-21 squad, where she eagerly
awaited the birth of an American professional women's soccer league.
Soon enough, she got a call from Tampa Bay. They wanted her in the
W1 league. Heather Mitts's time in Tampa was short lived. The Philadelphia
Charge, a powerhouse team in the Women's United Soccer Federation,
wanted her in its ranks. In 2001, Philadelphia drafted Heather Mitts,
and she became their defender who would let no player past. Heather
Mitts was building momentum and renown, for both her awe-inspiring
play and her jaw-dropping good looks as well.
The U.S. national team, which had already secured a world championship,
was the next to take Heather Mitts under its wing. This opportunity
allowed her to go head-to-head with world-class players from dozens
of countries, and she has helped maintain the team's prestige in
doing so. Heather Mitts is currently involved in the biggest tournament
of her career: the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens. Heather Mitts is
dating Miami Dolphins quarterback A.J. Feeley. Heather Mitts was
named the Hottest Female Athlete for 2004 by ESPN, beating out Anna
Kournikova and Jennie Finch, and has done spreads for magazines like
Maxim and FHM. Heather Mitts currently lives in Philadelphia.
